Presentation Overview:
- Dr. Gibson will provide an overview of the difficulties commonly encountered in diagnosing patients with eating disorders. He will introduce this topic through case studies showcasing the nuances in diagnosing an eating disorder.
- Dr. Gibson will present the diagnostic criteria for various commonly encountered eating disorders, as well as various clues that a covert eating disorder may be present.
- Identify conditions that may be misdiagnosed as an eating disorder.
- Describe the physiologic and psychiatric manifestations of starvation.
- List clinical findings/behaviors that may be associated with a covert eating disorder
