
Asma Farooq, MD
Dr. Farooq is a General Psychiatrist who provides direct psychiatric care and medication management. She also works with a multidisciplinary treatment team to deliver Psychiatric care primarily in the Eating Disorder Program.
She earned her medical degree from The University of Lahore, School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2011 (Pakistan). After graduating from Medical School, she successfully pursued and completed Residency in Medicine where she practiced General Medicine in Lahore and surrounding underserved areas. Dr. Farooq was given the unique opportunity to serve patients on a volunteer basis in remote West-Africa.
Upon her arrival to the U.S, she continued her desire to advance and grow as a Physician by pursuing a residency in Psychiatry at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, where she successfully completed the General Psychiatry Residency in 2020. During her 4-year Psychiatry Residency, Dr. Farooq served a large and diverse patient population enabling her to gain experience helping her patients with a variety of mental health conditions, symptoms, and treatment options. She also had the opportunity to specifically work with and serve children during her work at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship rotation sites.
As a dedicated mother, Dr. Farooq feels a personal calling to the areas of Reproductive Psychiatry, Perinatal Mental Health, as well as Prenatal and Postpartum mood disorders specifically helping women during a time of great change in their life. She truly values her continued professional education and continuous growth as an active member of the Nevada Psychiatric Association Society (President-Elect for Southern Chapter and Conference Committee Member), American Psychiatry Association, and Neuroscience Education Institution.
