Delaney Wesselink, PT, DPT, CEDS
Delaney Wesselink, PT, DPT, CEDS, leads the Rehab team at the ACUTE Center for Eating Disorders and Malnutrition, where she has been helping patients rebuild strength and independence since 2019. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from the University of Montana and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Colorado. She is a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist through the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (iaedp™) and holds a Functional Dry Needling Level II certification, staying at the forefront of rehabilitation techniques to best support her patients.
Delaney’s work is informed by both research and hands-on experience. She has contributed to multiple studies, including Changes in Grip Strength, Depression, and Cognitive Functioning During Medical Stabilization for Anorexia Nervosa: Exploring the Utility of Grip Strength as a Marker of Severity and Grip Strength Data for Individuals with Severe Anorexia Nervosa, exploring the relationship between physical recovery, mood and cognitive function during medical stabilization. Recognized for her compassionate approach, she has received the Denver Health Compassionate Care Award three times, a testament to the care and dedication she brings to every patient interaction. Beyond her clinical work, Delaney shares her expertise in physical therapy as an adjunct professor at the University of Colorado, educating future physical therapists about the important role physical therapy plays in eating disorder treatment and recovery.
What drives Delaney most is witnessing patients reconnect with their bodies and regain access to the activities they love. She values learning about each person’s life outside of treatment and tailoring rehabilitation to help them return to those passions. She also thrives on collaboration, drawing inspiration from the compassionate, hardworking team around her. Outside of work, Delaney embraces all that Colorado has to offer: hiking, biking, trail running, snowboarding and coaching soccer. She also enjoys weightlifting, teaching local fitness classes and cozying up with a good book during the winter months, always balancing movement with rest, just as she encourages her patients to do.
