Lucille Schiffman, DO, is a Psychiatrist at ACUTE Center for Eating Disorders and Severe Malnutrition. She specializes in the psychiatric care of patients with severe eating disorders and values building meaningful relationships with patients and their families throughout recovery.

     

Lucille Schiffman, DO, serves as a Psychiatrist at ACUTE Center for Eating Disorders and Severe Malnutrition. In her role, she supports patients through medically and psychologically complex stages of eating disorder recovery, working closely with ACUTE’s multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive psychiatric care.

Dr. Schiffman earned her Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies from Trinity College in Connecticut and her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Touro University California. She is a member of the American Psychiatric Association (2022–present) and the Colorado Psychiatric Society (2024–present). Since 2024, she has also served as an instructor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.

Prior to joining ACUTE, Dr. Schiffman gained experience treating patients with eating disorders during her residency training, working weekends at Eating Recovery Center in Denver beginning in 2022. During residency, she also served as President of the Research Committee for the 2023–2024 academic year.

Her academic work includes publications and presentations focused on psychiatry, personality disorders, and patterns in art and nature. Her work has appeared in Psychiatry and Primary Care and the Journal of Mathematics and the Arts, and she has presented research at Touro University California Research Day.

Dr. Schiffman enjoys the balance of high medical acuity and longitudinal patient care at ACUTE, which allows her to build meaningful relationships with patients and their loved ones over the course of treatment. She is motivated by the opportunity to positively impact patients’ recovery trajectories and overall quality of life.

Outside of work, Dr. Schiffman enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and reading.

ACUTE Earns Prestigious Center of Excellence Designation from Anthem
In 2018, the ACUTE Center for Eating Disorders & Severe Malnutrition at Denver Health was honored by Anthem Health as a Center of Excellence for Medical Treatment of Severe and Extreme Eating Disorders. ACUTE is the first medical unit ever to achieve this designation in the field of eating disorders. It comes after a rigorous review process.
