Kamila Cass, PhD, CEDS-C, is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist at the ACUTE Center for Eating Disorders and Severe Malnutrition, where she has worked with patients with eating disorders since 2021. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Skidmore College and completed her Master of Arts and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Missouri. Dr. Cass has specialized in the treatment of eating disorders since 2004 and brings extensive experience from private practice, academic medical centers, community mental health settings and multidisciplinary specialty programs. Prior to joining ACUTE, she developed the pre-surgical psychological assessment protocol for a bariatric surgery program, assessing patients for eating disorders and surgical readiness.
Dr. Cass is a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist Consultant (CEDS-C) through the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (iaedp™) and a Diplomate of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy. She is an Assistant Professor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and provides supervision for psychology residents at Denver Health. In addition to her clinical work, she is actively engaged in research, with multiple peer-reviewed publications focused on medical and psychological complications of eating disorders, including Diagnostic Dilemma of Avoidant/restrictive Food Intake Disorder After Bariatric Surgery: A Case Report and Review of Literature and Obstetric Complications of Anorexia Nervosa. Dr. Cass also regularly presents continuing education lectures nationally and internationally on behalf of ACUTE.
Dr. Cass values being part of ACUTE’s highly collaborative, multidisciplinary team and finds deep meaning in supporting patients through some of the most challenging moments of their recovery. She is driven by the opportunity to contribute to research and teaching in a field that has historically been underrecognized, believing that greater understanding and awareness are essential to improving outcomes. She is continually inspired by the courage and resilience of her patients and considers it a privilege to walk alongside them in their recovery journeys.
Outside of work, Dr. Cass enjoys spending time outdoors and connecting with nature. She also loves thrifting, collecting crystals and perfume and engaging with art and music. Most of all, she treasures time spent with her partner and three children.
