Leah Puckett, MD, MPH
Leah Puckett, MD, MPH, CEDS, has served as a Hospitalist at the ACUTE Center for Eating Disorders and Severe Malnutrition since 2018. She provides direct medical care to patients experiencing severe eating disorders, supporting them through stabilization. Dr. Puckett is also involved in teaching residents at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, helping train the next generation of physicians in the care of medically complex patients.
Dr. Puckett earned her Bachelor of Arts in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from the University of Colorado, a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Colorado State University, a Master of Public Health from the University of Colorado, and her MD from the University of Colorado School of Medicine. She is a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist through iaedp™ and holds a Global Health Certificate.
Her research has focused on metabolic and medical complications of eating disorders, including Evaluation of Mean Plasma Glucose Levels Using HbA1C in Patients With Severe Eating Disorders and Vitamin D and Hypophosphatemia in Patients with Anorexia Nervosa and Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder.
Dr. Puckett finds working at ACUTE deeply meaningful, as it allows her to support patients through challenging medical and emotional journeys. She values the opportunity to listen to patients’ stories, provide hope and be a source of light during critical points in recovery.
